Creating a Blog – Part 2: Topics

Choosing the right topic is very important, here are some tips:

Tip 1 – Don’t Blog on Unfamiliar Topics:

One of the biggest mistakes that I’ve seen is somebody starting a blog about something that they don’t even know about, for example: somebody starts a blog about politics but they don’t know a thing about it. So make sure you know what you’re talking about otherwise you are going to loose your visitors.

Tip 2 – Right Titles:

Give your post the right title. There is nothing worse than ending up on a post because your interested in the title but the post contains something totally different.

Tip 3 – Unique Posts:

One of the biggest mistakes to do is copy somebody elses post. Write your own posts and don’t copy what others do, be unique.

Creating a Blog – Part 1: Setting Up

So you want to create a blog but you don’t know where to start. Well you can follow this guide on how to set up and create a successful blog. I will be posting the next parts over the few upcoming days, so make sure to subscribe to the RSS feed to stay updated.

Step 1 – Choosing a name:

It’s very important to choose a good name that is relative to what your blog is about. For example, you can’t have a blog called “Tech Blog” and then have content about gardening. The name of your blog makes a big difference and is usually the first thing a person is going to see when visiting your blog.

Step 2 – Choosing the right theme:

Choosing a good looking, eye catching theme is important. The theme must also be relative to your blog if possible. Also choose a good layout for the type of content you’re going to be posting, for example, don’t use a small theme to post photos. Make sure it’s the write size. Download free themes from WordPress.org.

Step 3 – Hosting:

If you don’t have hosting yet, then I would suggest 1and1. I host with them, and they have good service and low prices.

Accommodation In Cape Town, South Africa – 2010 World Cup

South Africa is hosting the 2010 World Soccer Cup which means that accommodation is going to be hard to find. Here is some info about a nice self-catering lodge located in Pinelands, Cape Town, South Africa.

The house has one double bed and one sleeper couch, both brand new. There is a outside braai area covered with a Freeform tent and there’s also a small balcony. There is enough space at the braai area for your friends to come over and visit, and the tent is also waterproof so you wan’t have to worry about the rain. The inside of the house is modern and has wooden floors, there is a nice shower and a bath which has just been put in. The kitchen has granite table tops and a bar fridge for your cold products. There is secure parking outside for your cars, but you do park your car there at your own risk. There is also a shopping center nearby to buy all of your supplies. Cape Town International Airport and Vincent Palotti Hospital is also close to the house. Casinos and Wine Routes are also nearby. For more information and bookings visit their website at StayInCapeTown.net.
